Quick-witted and resourceful. In folk tradition the Rat is the first animal of the cycle, prized for spotting chances others miss.
Chinese zodiac years change at the Lunar New Year, not on 1 January. If your birthday is before 19 February 1996, your sign is the one from the year before, the Wood Pig. If it is after, you are a Fire Rat.
